"INVOLUNTARY LEAVE OF ABSENCE"

Every year, hundreds of mentally ill students are evicted from their dorms and suspended indefinitely. They lose their daily routine and friends. Other students know this, and are afraid to seek help.

To be reinstated, students must be “constructively occupied”: getting a job, taking classes at another college, then receiving glowing recommendation letters. Some are never readmitted.

As a result, students have self-harmed and even attempted suicide. This has been going on for decades.
